Changing ALL folders to "Details" ?

I have a used Business Hp Desktop I bought from a Recycle techs" shop.
I came with Windows 7 Professional installed on it with stickers and all....

How does one set up ALL the Windows 7 Folders to only show file "DETAILS"
as the default ? System wide, as it were.....

I thought I had that fixed, but this system keeps reverting to Icons or Lists
when I like the Details format.

Windows treats folders differently depending on what "Template" type they are: General Items, Documents, Pictures, Music, or Video, so what you ask is a two-step process:

    1) Set them all to the same template type, such as general items
Folder Template - Default - Windows 7 Help Forums

    2) Set all general item folders to match the one you are in right now
Folder View - Apply to Folders - Windows 7 Help Forums

I am unaware of how to keep this change permanently intact. Mine never change, but on google you'll see many complaints that windows sometimes changes things back to the default

If that is true - then where is THE Windows default state toggled (set to) ?

Where in Windows 7 does one go to set the default state of how the folder
contents are shown (in the pull down menu upper left of windows) as:

    Extra Large Icons
    Large Icons
    Medium Icons
    Small Icons
    List
    Details <------------
    Always Default to this !
    Tiles
    Content

    like this !

I want ALL file contents to default to "Details" when Windows Explorer opens any file.

My Windows 7 opens the Windows Explorer almost like a crap shoot - random ways !
I can't go about this one file at a time ! How do I default to "Details" always ?

I don't know how else to explain this, johnhoh.................

If there is such a place, I'd like to know too. Post #2 is the only solution I'm aware of.

Its possible it only seems random because you are opening folders that are different template types. To see what template type a folder is, do right click on the folder and select properties > customize

    Yes ! Yes !
    I think I understand now.

My Hard Disk is filled with sub-directories within sub-directories !

If I cannot default them as to "Template" - I would have to go thru EACH folder separately !

Is there some all overiding way to set "Templates" to one kind ?

I fear that Windows 7 has become a MAZE of different defaults designed to make a total mess
of the sub-folders. Opening any one brings up Icons (of random sizes) or Lists or Details....
    Ad Nauseam !

So - since we have different types of folders (Music, News, Rubbish, Cool, Dumb, ad nauseam), we
have different Templates each with it's own default set by the Great God MicroSoft...Yes ?!

Hold on - we (I) are/am going too fast !
    Wait one....

OK. Got it. Can I change ALL forder Templates in my C: Drive to General
w/o having to go thru them all one by one ?

    at a time ?
