    Win7 Personalisation Folders Not Showing.

Today I went to change my screen picture via personalisation. I usually change the photo every few weeks.
When I tried to get to the "Pictures Library" which contain all my pictures folders it showed up as "This Folder is empty". It usually shows all my folders so I can go through them to get to any specific folder to change a photo.

I dont know why its happened.I tried to do a system restore but that didnt do it.
It usually works when I do this by right click screen, click on personalize, click on desktop background, click on drop down menu for picture location, then Pictures Library.

Is there are reset I need to do?

    Thanks.

Hi Denv12, Here are some tips that may help.

    Right click on libraries

    Click on restore defaults

Set the slide show to see if photos are there

    Then go to control panel

    appearance and personalization

    change desktop background

    click on browse

    click on libraries and expand

click on my pictures and then click ok

click on select to check all pictures

Thanks ethel. I appreciate your help.I followed your instructions.

After all that it didnt get everything back. When I change the desktop background the Pictures Library is still missing as per my screen photo. When I click on My Pictures it only brings up 14 photos, all the other folders and photos arent there.

It shows these in the drop down menu:
    Windows Desktop Photos
    Pictures Library
    Top Rated Photos
    Solid Colors
    (one of my folders)Photos
    My Pictures
    Personalization

    windows 7 personalisation

Hello again Denv12. If you have done the above to show hidden files, I should have mentioned before that

after you do this go to

    Start orb

    Click on Computer

    Local Disk

    Users and open

Open your User file/ not default or public and see if your remaining photos are there.

I just did both. The previous reply advice didnt change anything. The advice here,I did find all my photos there as well as they are still in windows explorer too.I'm at a loss to explain why it wont work.It was working at least 4 days ago. I did a system restore first before I first posted. That didnt help. I've been trying to find tutorials for this.Doesnt seem to be any.
    Thank you for your help.

    backgrounds and personalisation

Hello Denv12, If you now have all your photos the only other thing I can think of to try is right clicking

on your picture files, and click restore previous versions, and see if there is a version before this happened.

    backgrounds and personalisation

Hi denv12, I have remembered a couple of other things to try. Control Panel, Ease of Access, Optimize

visual display, ensure that remove background images is unchecked. Another one some people have tried

with your problem is right clicking on a photo, and set it as desktop background, and then they looked

under Appearance and Personalization and their photos were there.

Hello Denver mate try these if you haven't already

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f switch and if this does not makeany improvement then just run this switch instead /r in the commandline as per Option2

Runthese in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs –you can leave out the /r switch in ckdsk if you feel it not necessary

    ifno fix then these

ADWdownload from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with themalware scans

(NBIf you are running Kaspersky as the main AV then it might needdisabling it when trying ADW because it does not like it at times)
