    Editing .msstyles help.

    Hello,

I have a theme I'm mostly happy with but I'd like to change the color of the Start Menu and taskbar. I'm not sure how to do this with resource hacker or Restorator.

Is the color defined or is it an actual image file? If it's an image, how do I tell what's what in resource hacker or Restorator? There is just a numbered list.

A link to a guide would be nice as well. I'm having trouble searching for stuff like this.

    Thanks.

Hi Tobiasfrost, The tutorial below by Brink should help you to change the color of the startmenu and taskbar.

Hello. Thank you for the link, but I think you misunderstood what I'm asking.
It's not possible to change the taskbar and start menu colors directly. You have to edit the .msstyles file for the theme with something like Restorator or Vista Style Builder.

I have Restorator and msstyleEditor, but could use a little help or a guide as it's not very straightforward.

Hi Tobiasfrost, Sorry for misunderstanding. I have not used restorator or any third party software, but I

am sure there are other members here with the experience to be able to help you with this one.

Well, I've made some progress through trial and error. I can't figure out a couple things though.
I'm not sure how to change the color of the search box in the start menu. Also the search box in Explorer (when it is the active text input).
Other than those two, I've managed to change everything so far.
