Windows 7: I need to get rid of the "Shared" icon overlays on my shared folders..

I need to get rid of the "Shared" icon overlays on my shared folders..

Hi everyone. My browser just crashed after I had typed up this post so I am now using notepad to type it up again...

I have an annoying problem that is poking at my OCD. You know how on shared drives/folders there is that little overlay in the corner showing that it is shared (I don't know what it is normally because mine is customized - it might be a hand or something)? I need them to go away. I use XYplorer and instead of showing it small and in the corner as it should, it overlays the entire icon so I can't see what the original icon looks like.

- Background info: I customized the "Shared" overlay using AVG PC Tune-up. It looks like a bunny if anyone cares. Yes, I know, AVG is terrible and almost impossible to get rid of. But I did get rid of it, every last folder, hidden or not - luckily my customization settings stayed the way they were while I was cleaning up.

So, all of my folder icons that are shared are covered with a giant bunny in XYplorer which makes it really hard to see what the heck I am doing. I read this article: Removing the Hand from Icons of Shared Folders :: Misc :: User Tips :: Windows Vista :: Windows Server 2012/2008/2003/2000/XP/NT Administrator Knowledge Base :: KBase Tips ::

I followed the instructions and left the value blank. Restarted. It changed nothing - I think it was actually the overlay it applies to shared remote network drives or something. Anyways, I will change that back just for the integrity of the OS (helps me rule out future probs). Could someone please tell me what the dll was supposed to be so I can set it back? Just take a look in your registry if you are running 7...

I need to know the registry entry for the "Shared" overlay (from Properties-->Sharing-->Share this folder

Or I need to know a way to just toggle off showing the icon while leaving the registry alone.

Or I need to know where the default icon is stored so I can replace it with a completely transparent one.

For now, just so I can work, I have stopped sharing any of my folders or drives. I don't often need to access them remotely, but when I do (using Kodi or my laptop) I would like to be able to.

Lemme know if you need more info and please help if you can!
