    Win 7 Starter Wallpaper Disappeared.

I am hoping that someone from Microsoft could assist me to re-establish the original wallpaper for my laptop. Here is the background: I keep an old laptop with Windows 7 Starter Edition specifically to play older games. (Old games do not work on Win 8 onwards – since Microsoft’s update KB3086255.) I got bored with the standard wallpaper and tried to change it. It then became apparent that Win 7 Starter Edition does not have the facility to change wallpapers. I then found and installed StarterBackgroundChanger V09. Unfortuneately the installation did not go well and bombed out. After trying a few times, I decided that this was not working and tried to uninstall this program. It uninstalled fine, but it left me with a black/blank wallpaper. I then Googled the issue to get it to this laptop to show it’s original background. I found and followed the following steps:
    1. Open regedit (or Registry Editor). To open it go to Start menu and type regedit in the search box)
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ folder and click on it
    3. On the right hand side find the key named wallpaper and double click on it. There you need to enter the full path of the picture you want to set as your new wallpaper (example for path C:\Users\Alex\Pictures\new_wallpaper.jpg)
    4. Right click on the Desktop folder in regedit and click Permissions then click Advanced
    5. Go to Owner tab, highlight your name in the box that says Change owner to (there are only two choices: your user name or Administrator). Once your user name is highlighted you need to click OK
    6. Click on Advanced again
    7. Uncheck the box that reads Include inheritable permissions from the object’s parent and click Remove when prompted
    8. Click Add
    9. Type Everyone and click OK
    10. Check Allow Read Control and click OK
    11. Click OK again
    12. Highlight Everyone and check to Allow Read and click OK
    13. Restart your computer and enjoy your new wallpaper.
Surprise, surprise. It did not work for me. I am pulling my hair out. I then tried installing Oceanis 1.0, but again it did not work. I uninstalled it successful. I am still sitting with a black/blank screen. Does anyone know where to from here?
    Thanks

If you like, one of the options in the tutorial below should allow you to change your desktop background in Windows 7 Starter.
