Desktop Icon Text

I feel a bit embarrassed to ask this, but though relatively unimportant, it nonetheless is an annoyance for me. I have my desktop customized to my taste. It has a solid background, and the text under the desktop icons is a plain black, thin lined text, which is what I want. However, on occasions, (for example if I fiddle with the appearance settings, to change resolution, or whatever), when I return to my standard settings, the text becomes a thick white text. The only way I have found to get back to my original text is to reboot. When I do that, everything is back to normal. I've looked and looked for a setting to control this, without having to reboot (or to prevent it from happening in the first place), but haven't found anything. Does this sound at all familiar, and can anyone point me to what is happening and how to prevent and or fix it?

Trouble is, I don't think that's doable. First of all, it's "good" now. And it only goes "bad" when I fiddle with the display settings (or once when everything went black, and a box popped up and sad the display driver quit responding, but has recovered). When it does go bad, a reboot cures it immediately. And of course, finally, I don't have any restore points that go back to "before it started happening," since I don't know when that was, but do know that it was a long time ago. As I indicated, it's more of a curiosity than a problem, but I was hoping that someone could explain what was happening, and whether or not it could be fixed without a reboot.

Malwarebytes | Free Cyber Security & Anti-Malware Software

Malwarebytes | AdwCleaner

Sometime Malwarebytes can conflict with Kaspersky Internet security in that case disable it while you run the Malwarebytes scans

Do run Malwarebytes regularly, and don't have Kaspersky. Scans all come up clean. Guess I need to do a little more indepth exploration of what exactly the status is WHEN the problem appears--to see if all the settings, icon font, etc show the same as they show when all is "normal."

Hmm RP mate going back to your first post and after reading it again I suppose it can be down to just some odd glitch in the software somewhere even maybe worth updating the graphics driver after all not going to do any harm and you have nothing to lose either?

Make sure you ran the "Windows7-DreamScene.exe" fix before proceeding. 1) Set Folder Options to Show hidden files, folders... 2) Set *.mpg or *.wmv as Desktop Background. 3) Right-click desktop > Personalize > Desktop Wallpaper. 4) Select the hidden *.jpg.
