    Folder Customization TOTALLY GONE.

I know the "how do I change the desktop folder icon ?" question has been asked about a zillion times, but nothing I've seen seems to answer my problem. Sorry if a solution has been found in a previous post. In short, I used to be able to customize the folder icons on my desktop, regardless of it being a shortcut, or created directly on the desktop with the right-click, etc. Easy, Peasy

Now, regardless of WHERE on my computer I go, any folder I right-click only displays two tabs: GENERAL, and PREVIOUS VERSIONS. There is an "advanced" button, but no help there. Also, several of the folders on my desktop (both shortcuts and created on the desktop) which I customized the icons on previously, ALSO won't let me change the icon again.

    Is this a registry problem?
Was there a MS update which did this, which I need to delete?
Is there a third-party program I could download as a work-around so that I could use my context menu again to change folder icons?

    Appreciate any help!

Hello pilzener, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

Since you only have two tabs, you might see if the tutorial below can add the "Customize" tab back so you will be able to change the folder icon again.

The tutorial below is for the "Security" tab.

Excuse my bad manners for not replying sooner! That did the trick. Terrific. Just out of curiosity, since this solved the problem, what was it that deleted the customization tab in the first place?

    Thanks again!

    Great news.

If you have a tweaking type program installed, it may have an option for this you may have ticked by mistake.
