Bring Back the Throbber?

Microsoft's removal of the throbber (the flag icon that resides in the top-right hand corner of Explorer in XP and below) is one of the things I really miss in Win 7 and above.

I know there's no way to bring it back officially, but did anyone ever come up with a program that replicates it? A toolbar perhaps? I've looked high and low, and I can't seem to find anything. Any help or suggestions are most welcome.
