Re:basebrd logo missing in 7 welcome screen...

Hello 7 forum members,

I have had an issue with installing a windows 7 "skinpack" that removes (deletes??) windows 7 welcome screen 7 OS logo;i would like to know how i may get this logo back to appearing on windows 7 welcome/logon(GUI screen!!) screen??

I also have an issue regarding changing or editing the windows 7 OEM contact/builder(??) information in windows 7 system properties control panel app(this information is to the right of "Windows Activation status!!),and would like to know how to edit or change this system information without 3rd party apps???

Thanks in advance for helpful replies!!

The default image used for the welcome, sign in and shutdown screens is C:\Windows\System32\oobe\background.bmp. See the attached image.

See this tutorial: System Support Information

If your background.bmp has been deleted from the oobe folder, then it can be copied from another machine. If you don't have another machine, but do have the W7 install ISO, then 7-Zip File Manager can be used to extract it from the \sources\install.wim or install.esd. 7-Zip File Manager can open the ISO, right-click on it and select 'open with.'. Then in 7-Zip look in the folder \sources\ for an install.wim or .esd. Open this with 7-Zip File manager and look in \1\Windows\System32\oobe\

The default background.bmp may not actually have been deleted, but your 'skinpack' may have added an image of its own that overrides the default. OEMs often do that to put their branding on the welcome screen. This is done by creating the folder C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds and placing an image named BackgroundDefault.jpg there (or it may be a .bmp).

If that is what your 'skinpack' has done, then just deleting or renaming this image should revert to using the W7 default.
