Re:Missing desktop gadget platform software fix...

Hello 7 forum members,

I have a minor dilemma regarding a Custom slipstreamed Windows 7 distro;who ever created this custom Windows 7 copy deleted(or disabled) Windows 7 gadget platform (formally known as Windows Sidebar") software, and hence i cannot enable the platform in the Turn Windows Feature on or Off dialogue in 7 Programs and Features control panel!!?!!

Please do not recommend SFC scan since the Windows system files do not have the desktop gadget platform software to correct my problem!!!

I would like to know if there is any 3rd party apps that can reinstall the desktop gadget platform in my version of Windows or is there a way of installing the 7 gadget platform software from a windows 7 setup iso??

If they were not deleted, there are a couple of directories that contain the gadget installs, I'm at work, cannot look them up. If you PM me, I can type them into a return PM. I was able to re-install most gadgets by double-clicking the thingies in those directories.

Hi Rob,

see this tutorial,
Vista Windows Sidebar - Reinstate on Windows 7

you will need to create the windows sidebar folder,

now unzip the the attachment drag or copy/paste it to the newly created folder
