I need some help with folders and icons inside folders

I want to change my folders I'm using windows 10 pro. And I want to change the folders but keep the icons but not the thumbnails if that makes any sense. For example: I would like to make 1 folder the same folder icons for all Music and it is open and has a music icon or symbol inside the folder. I want to do the same for videos and pictures and documents and so forth. If this is possible to make a specific folder for specific categories please let me know how and if I'm even in the right place thank you.

I am needing some help with customizing the folders as well. I already changed the "Default Icon Folder" so now I want too change the "Open Folder Icon" but can't figure out where I went wrong. I do also have pictures.

Here is what the folders look like.

Samuria, I have Windows 7, does Windows 10 also allow one to change the icon associated with a shortcut or EXE? I think it is within Properties ... Change Icon or something like that?

    Like this?

    1. Right click on the folder you want to change the icon, then click on properties > customize > change icon.

    2. Click on browse button and paste the below path to location field in the browse window.

    Code:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll
