Aero disables on 2560x1440 dual monitor
Hi guys,
I have read about the limitation in Windows 7 for Aero to work, it's something like any width that exceeds 8192 (or close to this). However, when I switch both of my monitors to 2560x1440, which is nowhere near this limit, Aero is forcibly disabled.
Disabling then re-enabling DWM results in a glitchy, black, non-transparent screen. I've spent hours searching for solutions to this... including adding "UseMachineCheck" "Blur" and "Animations" into registry, uninstalling the latest DirectX update, etc. But nothing seems to work.
If I use any resolution below 2560x1440, Aero works fine. If I use 2560x1440 on one monitor, Aero works fine. I have an Nvidia 980ti, which is more than powerful enough to run Windows 7 dual monitors at 2560x1440.
Of course, I've also tried all of the generic, low hanging fruit solutions. I'm generally quite well versed with computers (I'm a coder by trade), but this is something I haven't encountered before.
Btw, it seems that when DWM crashes, or goes to this black glitchy screen, this is the dump in event viewer:
"The Desktop Window Manager has encountered a fatal error (0x88980406)"
I did some search on this, and it's where I found the resolution limitation for DWM... but I am not exceed or even close to that limitation.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks!
