Windows 7: Windows Media Player + permissions help?

I made a backup, my media player works and loads no problem, just i cant overwrite the wmploc.dll file anymore for some reason, someone run me through how to take full control and overwrite it? i followed a few guides but still it wont overwrite it.

cheers though for the help, highly appreciate your time and advice.

Yep i rebooted, i will try, have to try it later as have to go for now. thanks, will let you know if i can get it sorted

Read my above post otherwise things can start to get messy.
Once you have deleted the modded wmplocs and replaced them with the ORIGINAL, i'll walk ou hrough taking ownership and setting permissions.

You'll need to do it in Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

Hey thanks "rsvr85" i deleted modified version as you said, got my backup to the desktop added my new image and transfered it over with no problems with permissions this time. really when i think it was such a little problem but that little problem stopped it from copying.

thanks mate, really appreciate you helping me solve that problem, it was really bugging me big time, thanks for the lession, i'll remember for next time, twice now you helped me solve my problems, cheers

No problem andrewa1, the most important thing to bear in mind when modding files like this, is to make a quick unmodded backup of the file just in case things to pete tong. You've seen how easy it is for things to get out of hand and not having a backup of the file only makes things 10x worse

Mybe another thing to note;
Instead of creating a new wmploc.dll each time you want to assign a new image, just change LIBRARY_BACKGROUND1/2/3/4/ etc and simply change the hex value as discussed in the previous thread, it's much easier than messing with Restorator each time and also less confusing.
