I still can't figure out the POINT of making 7 look like XP...not that it's any of my business, but I just don't "get it".

Just one question....

WHY?

I did love the old layout i.e. Win 98SE etc. However I also think that the Windows 7 experience is progress and in MY view much better. Each to their own of course.

If I were to rate the look of XP, I'd give it a 5

Vista an 8.5

7 gets a 9

totally agree. And you don't "just run xp" because Win7 is a far better OS when measured by the functions that are not a part of the look and feel. There is the OS and what it does, and the OS and how it interacts with you.

Great job in personalizing your Windows 7 to work the way you want! I am not sure what version of Window 7 you are running, but if you are running Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise you can run XP mode: Windows 7 features - Windows XP Mode - Microsoft Windows.

Classic start menu and consistent folder view in Win7
So I have to maintain a Winblows box because of some closed-source tools we are required to use from a vendor. The system I bought to lug around said OS is a Dell that doesn't support XP. :( So I ran Vista for a while and that was a horrid experience. So when Win7 came out we moved over. Ok...
