What Event Sounds Would You Like?

I’ve been thinking of making some sound files for customizing the audio events in Windows 7. Right now, I’m just in the planning stages.

I need to formulate the number to make - or, better yet, to which events to associate. Next, what is the preferred length - 1 second or less, longer? Finally, what is the best format - PCM wave, 44 kHz, 16-bit, stereo, etc? Would MP3 be better?

What “theme” do you think most people would like? In other words, Sci-Fi, nature sound effects, electronic, voice comments, movie/TV sounds, etc.

Let me know what you think.

If this is for a standard Windows sound scheme, it only allows WAVE (.wav) files. MP3s would have better sound quality, but you can't associate actions with MP3s, only WAVEs.

Seems like a feature no one feels that passionate about.

A whistling bomb drop with an explosion at the end.

A belch when you empty the recycle bin. The sound of a toilet flushing when you shut down...
Audacity can convert mp3 to wave files.. and it's free.

Your right.. I have noticed that no one used custome sounds anymore either. I remember when Themes first came out in XP and people made themes they would change everything.. colors, background wallpaper, icons, cursors and sounds as well as start up and shut down screens.

A while back I went looking for sexy computer female voices - thought that would be cool.. only found one set on the whole net that was complete. I was shocked. I wanted it to kind of give the impression the PC was talking to the user - thought it would be cool. But didn't really sound like what I wanted.

Other than an e-mail alert, my sounds are set to none. I didn't realize I was so "mainstream." :)

I just thought it might be a way to give back to the community here.

I'm really into the tv/movie as for sounds. I would like the 3 stooges and a little longer than the usual sounds. Anyone know if there is a way to make moving desktop icons, say like curly from the 3 stooges break dancing or moe doing the robot? That would be some funny @$#! .
