Using Windows Vista Picture Screensaver in Windows 7

I recently upgraded one of my PC's to windows 7.

I liked the Vista (Picture Slideshow screensaver in Vista) but the Picture screensaver in windows 7 is very basic, its gone back to how XP was with no additional settings.

I liked the themed picture show options like Travel, Random etc where you own photos were not just shown full screen but were animated onto different backgrounds like sandy beaches etc.

I tried to just copy the Photoscreensaver.scr file from the windows system 32 folder from vista and tried putting this file into the windows 7 system to no avail?

Are there any other files I need to copy across to make this operation work in windows 7? or is it just not compatable?

Have you thought about Windows Live Photo Gallery, It has a photo screensaver that has a bunch of options.

    Yes thanks again.

I'm not sure what the diffence is between this so called "Windows Live" picture screen saver and the one which was bundled with Vista. The only differences I have noticed is that its jerky between picture changes and not smooth like the vista one was? Do you know if this "Windows Live" version is updating my pictures online and getting them back from the net? That might explain why its jerky? other wise it works great thanks

I'm not sure if that's how it works, but I did notice that too no matter what speed you have it set for. I usually just use my wallpaper slideshow with whatever theme I'm using. glad that's working for you and you're welcome.:)
