    System Icons Problem

Hello, I'm new here on the forums,

I have an issue with the system icons ..
I cannot turn on the network icon .. its turned "OFF" and marked grey .. so I can't edit this one, I've tried alot of ways to get it back but it still won't help .. anyone has this problem or knows how to solve this one ?

    cheers !

    Hello Sid,

Check in the registry at the locations below to see if you have HideSCANNetwork in the right pane. If you do, then delete it. You can also use METHOD THREE in this tutorial.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

    and

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Some say that restarting the computer a few times restores it as well. May be worth a try if you haven't already.

    Sid,

It's usually only a couple of restarts instead. You might consider a System Restore using a restore point dated before this problem to see if it can help.
