    Customize Bookmarks sidebar in Firefox

    Hi all! :)

I am currently using Firefox 3.6 as my main browser and was wondering if anyone has any idea if it is possible to customize the background to the bookmarks sidebar?

    Customize Bookmarks sidebar in Firefox-bookmarks.jpg

As you can see the background is a plain old blueish colour and I would like to be able to change it or even make it transparent.

I have looked at the addons on the Mozilla site but don't seem to see anything that would help.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks TimStitt. That script does work, but to be honest, it looks worse than the original.

I am really looking to change the background image or colour.

Your help is much appreciated though!

    Ok I worked it out,

Edit the userChrome.css file located in the %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\nnzxz3o6.default\chrome folder. Replace with the code below (that I edited based on the previous link I posted).

    /* __________________________________________________________________________| | || Title: | Custom Bookmarks Sidebar Background || Description: | Makes Personalized image appear on Bookmarks Sidebar || Author: | -=Ben=- Edited by Tim Stitt 18/01/2010 || Date Created: | July 2, 2008 || Date Updated: | November 10, 2008 || Version: | 1.0.0.1 ||__________________|_______________________________________________________|*/@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);#bookmarks-view{ /* font-weight:bold !important; */ /* font-size: 14px !important; */ font-family: Segoe UI, SegoeUI, calibri, verdana, helvetica, tahoma, Arial !important; background-color:#880000 !important; background-repeat:no-repeat !important; background-position: center !important;}on: center !important;}

Now look up a nice html colour from a web site such as HTML Colors and edit the crappy red colour that I picked at random. Crappy red is #880000, replace this #number with a colour of your choice from your html search.

    Reboot firefox.

    I don't seem to have a nnzxz3o6.default folder

I get as far as file:///C:/Users/xxxxxx/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/9d7r87bb.default/, and although there is a chrome folder, it is empty!

    Any ideas?

I managed to change the colour in the Custom Bookmarks Sidebar Background | userstyles.org script you gave me. Any idea how to get rid of the logo thingy?

Scripting and I are not the best of mates

No problem, im happy to help. :)
Perhaps the folder is created uniquely during each install. Download this extension, it easily allows you to find all the script directories in firefox and is a good place to start for firefox scripting. ChromEdit Plus & More

To get rid of the crap logo delete everything between (but not including)
    background-color:#FFFFFF !important; and
    background-repeat:no-repeat !important;.
