Show Navigation Pane> Expand Folder? (+ sign)

    Hi all,

I'm using Classic Theme, and in Windows Explorer, when I mouseover in the left-hand pane (Navigation), the plus signs (to expand folders) appear/disappear. They only stay displayed if I have a folder highlighted on the left. As soon as I select anything in the right-hand pane, the plus signs disappear again.

Does anyone know a way to display them permanantly?

    TIA

PS Apologies if this has been asked already. I searched, but couldn't find anything.

    Welcome to Seven Forums Mac.

The arrows/+ signs should show up when you move the mouse over the navigation pane. When you move the mouse over the right pane, they disappear. I guess the idea is that if the mouse isn't nearby they aren't of much use. Sorry, but I don't know of a way to change the behavior.

    Thanks for replying.

I understand the idea behind it, and you rightly say that if they mouse isn't over them, they're no use.

However, MS should realise that some users don't like to see things change on the UI depending on where the mouse is. I'm probably in a minority on this, but it would be nice to at least have the option to change this behaviour.

A bigger problem is that the buttons don't show during drag/drop. So you are dragging a file, place a mouse over a folder, but its [+] button doesn't appear even if it has sub-folders.

This problem can be fixed with Classic Shell: ANN: Classic Shell 0.9.8 -now with skinnable start menu
Install the Classic Explorer component, open the settings and select "Don't fade buttons".

    Oh, how dumb I am!

Thanks for that, Ivo. I already have Classic Shell installed and didn't realise it had that setting. I've being doing so much tweaking over the last few days, I forgot to check all the options.

I'm now a happy bunny! Thanks!

Then you may want to upgrade to the latest version 0.9.9. It was released just an hour ago. It has many bug fixes and many new configuration settings you may find useful.
