Able to customize taskwar with non aero vid card?

Hey guys. here's the deal. I installed win 7 on my old dell latitude d610. it seems to be running fine (way better than i expected) However, the video card does not support aero. It seems like I am stuck how the taskbar looks, a boring light blue. Is there any way I can change the color of the taskbar? Thanks!!

Welcome Reeko, What video card do you have?
Here's a post for a hack to enable aero on non-aero cards, I don't know if it works but you can check it out.

Hi! Thanks for the help! I tried the hack but unfortunately it didn't work. I am trying to change my "window color" on one of the themes, but when I press 'apply' nothing happens.. Any known fix for this?

Do you have aero themes? What are you pressing apply on? Can you post a screenshot?

Is this the window you have to change colors? What version of windows 7 do you have?

I have windows 7 ultimate, 32 bit, build 7600. That is not the screen i have to change colors. the one i have is more like the old XP theme customization. I read on intel's site (this laptop has a intel integrated graphics chip) that the video in my laptop doesnt support aero themes. I am stuck with using the "Basic and high contrast themes" I can select the aero themes, but it only applies the wallpaper and sounds, it does not affect the task bar. I'll get screenshot tomorrow but it's getting late, thanks for the help.

    You're welcome,
I'm not sure if you can get it working but you can check back and see if someone else has an answer for you.

You didn't say WHICH Intel chip, but if it is the 915 chip (as were many of the older laptops), there is simply NO WAY you will be able to get Aero working. I know because I have a laptop with that chipset and have tried literally everything that I could find -- all the way back to the early days of Vista.

If you do a search in this forum for threads dealing with the 915 chipset and Aero, you fill some older posts that provide links to alternative themes that you can install. I'm using the theme changer task that does NOT modify the system files and a basic black theme.

Sorry, but Aero is simply OUT for 9156 chipset owners.
