    Desktop Folders

I've hunted high and low but I can't find it.....

We have 2 users on this PC. We both have desktop folders in use.

My folders are just plain beige and empty but the other logon shows the contents of the folders like small pieces of paper inside the folder.

I want to turn this on for my logon as well.

    Thanks

All I know is that it's turned off if you change the icon in the folder properties>customize. It might be easiest to create a new logon or copy the working one and then change passwords etc.

    Hello Kremmen,

Double check to make sure that you have thumbnails turned on to see if that may be it. If it is turned off, you will see plain empty folder like that as well.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Thanks

They are turned on so there's something more to this.

There are a few routes there for me to investigate though.

Edit: I've been round all that and it's all OK. I'm going to have to live with it

Creating a new user is an option but I'm happy with all my other settings so I'll pass on that one thanks.

Still getting niggly with this. There has to be a setting somewhere?

    My Folder:

Second identical folder on another user:

Options 1: (same in both users)

    Option 2:

File associations are the same for both users and Windows Photo Viewer is the default for as much as it can be.

I have removed and refreshed the icons cache.

What next? (apart from setting up another user as the error user is the main Admin account and was used to install all the software, hence that user name is plastered all over the registry)

Having had this problem for over a month, since initial installation, it has miraculously fixed itself.

Not used the PC since last Sunday, switched on this morning and the Folders have their contents revealed with inserted pages.

Ignore that - just fired up again after a 2 hour pause and they've gone again

    It's spooked

I'm dragging this back up again as a FYI......

My PC has 2 active users. The main user is me and when I bootup and logon my desktop folders are missing the pieces of inserted paper showing a pseudo graphic of the included icons.

However, if the other user was the last user to use the PC (then shuts the PC down) when I next bootup and logon I get the inserted sheets! But just for that session.

The other user always gets the inserted sheets.

I'm considering submitting this to the X Files dept :)
