I've looked everywhere for this as well. The best I found is this: Speed Fan Meter. It works well but you to have Speed Fan installed and running.

thanks for the replies, but i forgot to mention i was hoping for a standalone widget that measured temperature and did not require and other software to run

For temps, your better off using your MOBO software IMO.
Most gadgets Ive found require other software you may or may not want.

    Hi again zijincheng,

This works in Vista so it may work in Windows 7 as well: Core Temp (32-bit) - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

    You haven't specified if you're using 32- or 64-bit Windows 7...

I regulary do temp monitoring on several machine and have found the following to be consistently true: If speedfan works (i.e., provides temps and fan speeds), nearly all the other monitoring utilities will work, too. If speedfan does not work, NONE of the other monitoring utilities will work, either.

So, since speedfan is free and widely used, suggest you try it out first. If you get temps and fan speeds, then you can experiment with other utilities that have GUIs you may like better.

Another one is "HWMonitor meter", but, of course, you need to install... HWMonitor...
