Add Custom Entries to the "Choose Details" menu

I've been looking all over google for an answer to this, I couldn't find one. Thinking to myself, this is a first. Anyway I'd like it if someone had an answer for this one. I run a computer repair business and would like to add some extra metadata to some of my files for accounting purposes.

    Example.
I have many pictures/pdfs of invoices from suppliers. I'd like to be able to have a column in windows explorer for the total price of those invoices and I'd like to call it "Total Price" that way I can sort them by price.
Any help would be appreciated, but please don't suggest I use the categories that are already there.

Edit: If this is in the wrong spot, please move it.

I still need to know how to do this. A link to a tutorial or a hint as to where I can start looking would be great. Why are ppl ignoring this thread? I thought you guys were helpful here.

Hey moddinman, I don't think it's that you're being ignored, but nobody wants to be the bearer of bad new - that custom made details columns aren't provided for in Vista or Windows 7 as they were in XP.

If I were you I would look around for an Explorer replacement for Windows 7 that claims to have this capability (I couldn't find one on a quick look around) or a shell replacement (rather extreme, and unlikely to satisfy). Otherwise, just live with the shortcoming, or go back to XP.

It was a good question, and maybe a tweaker is out there working on a solution.

That doesn't really make sense. It has to be governed by the registry. There has to be a way to alter something to add or remove those entries. I already understand it's not going to be as easy as just clicking on a button to add or delete them however I always have my registry backed up and a ghost image of my computer ready to boot at a moments notice if anything goes wrong, so I'm not scared to poke around in the registry. I just can't find the entries to alter.
