How do I turn off visual effects?

I don’t like the way Win7 animates windows when maximizing and minimizing. I’ve know how to turn it off, but I want to turn it off permanently.

I’ve been to System->Advanced->Performance Options->Visual Effects and unchecked the corresponding option - "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing". I’ve also unchecked “Enable Aero Peek”.

This turns off the animation only for a while. Perhaps a day or two sometimes just a few hours. I was wondering if there was a registry hack to turn this off permanently.

Can any one help?

Thanks for the reply. All the knowledge base tells you is how to turn animation off and on. There’s nothing on how to disable it permanently. I’ve googled it, and found that there are quite a few people with the same problem. Cheers.

Once again, thanks for the replies.

I know how to turn it on and off. I’ve even been into the registry and made sure that ‘MinAninate’ is set to '0'.

For some reason, Win7 keep turning animation back on. I then have to switch it off again. This happens four or five times a day.

All I want to know is; is there a way of setting it OFF permanently. Does any one know of a registry hack to achieve this?

Thanks for the link regarding possible compatibility problem with Logitech software.

Not so long ago, I had an issue with Setpoint 4.80 and NAV2010. According to Norton, Setpoint was trying to access files on my computer and was being logged as “Unauthorised Accessed Logged” and was being blocked by Norton. Why the fuss I hear you ask, well it was being logged 10 times per minute!! The resulting log file was E N O R M O U S. This actually had an impact on my computer's performance.

I posted on the Logitech support site and the answer was to turn off “Automatic Updates” and remove the Logitech icon from the system tray. This actually worked. Norton now logs about one or two per hour.

Recently, I bought a Logitech steering wheel and installed Logitech Gaming Software v5.08. This has started Norton off again and this time there’s no automatic updates to turn off and no icon in the system tray.

I believe Logitech software is responsible for animation being turned on all the time.

I posted on the Logitech support forum and I’ve emailed Logitech through their support system. Hopefully, I’ll have an answer soon.
