Which clock gadget is best for these...?

    Hello,

I am looking for a clock for my desktop, and would like to get some recommendations from other users. I see that there are several recommended ones, but I was hoping that a kind person could point me in the direction or one or two which fulfill my needs. :) My basic requirements are:
    • That it be aesthetically pleasing - not ugly, but doesn't need to have to have a lot of colors and customizations either, mostly just blue and black.
    • That it has the ability to set both alarms for a specific time of the day, and for a countdown alarm. Perhaps at the most, one of each at the same time (alarm clock and countdown timer).
    • Easy to use and uses a small amount of system resources. Small screen space, so I can have it on top of my other applications without it getting in the way.
    • Option to always "keep on top" of other applications.
Your advice on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help.

Well the Windows 7 Gadget Gallery is a great place to look, as is DeviantART.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was hoping someone could direct me to 1 or 2 programs, as doc did, that do exactly what I want, so that I do not have to hunt thru them. Also, the deviant art is a good idea, but I do not want anything that "fancy". Just a plain digital clock in black or blue (or both). With 2 alarms, one for alarm time and one for countdown. That's all. Something simple.

If someone could give me an idea, other than the one I will be pursuing from doc, I would be grateful. I would like an alternative in case his suggestion does not work.

    Best regards,

    ~Antonio

juanantoniod, I want exactly the same as you do. Could you direct me to the 'doc' suggestion? Does it work, and if not we'll just have to wait for a suggestion..

    I know I'm persnickety, but...

Unfortunately, the "Sphere Timer" did not work entirely for me. The ONE thing it does not do is pop to the top of the screen when it goes off. That, and I wish it had a Star Trek like computer voice saying "Time Has Elapsed" or something to that effect. Other than that...

So, maybe I will check out some of those others. Now that I know I can do a quick image restore of my system with Macrium, I will be more inclined (or not) to try other things.

(FWIW, I had done the system image with Macrium a few weeks ago and, over the weekend, tried to turn off my Taskbar Thumbnails and make them appear as a list instead. I used a program that turned them off, but did not make them into a list. So, I turned them back on. But the program did something to my registry which made my Quick Launch bar keep disappearing on every boot. So, I ran the Macrium image restore today, and it worked! And, it only took about 35 minutes! I was pleasantly surprised, especially since I was considering using MS Backup until last night when I tried to backup some files, and it hung at 31% for about 45 minutes before I just gave up on it... It is so NICE when something actually works, and it is usually not MS based.)

    Take good care,

    ~Antonio

    Sergio,

I took a peek at your work and I liked what I saw, just not exactly what I need. As it stands now, I am liking the SF Digital Clock with the dark background, blue LCD display, and chrome "box". However, was I correct in my scouring the forum postings after that, that this is only a CLOCK, without an alarm?

If you could direct me to a deviant art clock in this same vein that has my originnal needs, as follows, I woudl appreciate it very much!
That it be aesthetically pleasing - not ugly, but doesn't need to have to have a lot of colors and customizations either, mostly just blue and black.
    • Has the ability to set both alarms for a specific time of the day, and for a countdown alarm. Perhaps at the most, one of each at the same time (alarm clock and countdown timer).
    • Easy to use and uses a small amount of system resources. Small screen space, so I can have it on top of my other applications without it getting in the way.
    • Option to always "keep on top" of other applications. If not always on top, comes immeiately to the top when alarm sounds.
    • I would like it to reside in the task tray on the task bar, so that I can access it quickly from the drop-down task tray icons and click or right-click to open it.
    • Last request (optional) that it have a human like computer voice which states as the alarm, "Your time has elapsed", or something similar.
As an idea, it could even be an LA Dodgers logo (LA) clock, in Black, Blue, White, Silver/Grey, or any combination thereof.

    Thanks for your input!
