    Adding Icons to default location?

i've just downloaded an Icon pack, and i'm wondering can i put them into the same place as windows stores the original ones (%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll)

i have one pack thats .png and another that .ico

thats the best way to add these?

or do i just keep them in a folder and change the icon from this folder?

    cheers :)

    Hello BJ,

Yes. You can use the method in this tutorial to do so.

looking at the tutorial, it looks to be if you want to change an icon,

what i'm wanting to do is add more to the (%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll)

or is it better just customising the icon picture and choosing one from the folder i have?

It's better that you replace the icons in the file, but do be warned, keep a copy of the original, just in-case things go pare-shaped. (:

Repeat upto step 13 for the icons you want to replace, and then when you are done, go for step 14 and step 15.

Nice advise , Uber pal ! I think the best way (the safest way) is to get a system image backup before we start any type of tweaking, so that for any tipe of problems, we may easily restore it.
