    why dont you just go right click>view>uncheck show desktop icons ?
    Because I like knowing that I have any desktop icons, use the desktop for temporary holding.

    I tried it myself and the Recycle Bin just won't go invisible. The only thing I can think of is hiding it permanently via one of the other options then creating an invisible folder on the desktop via my method. Now create a task in Task Scheduler that transfers the contents of that folder to the Recycle Bin at regular intervals.

    Make a folder on the desktop and give it that name

    Bin.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

    Then try to hide that.

    What are you doing graymatter? Are you changing the Recycle Bin icon from the personlization - desktop icons settings menu? Are you changing both the full and empty icons? If so I dunno, if not try that.

    When I try to empty the recycle bin with the invisible icon, the option is greyed out. When I change the "full" icon to the default it will let me empty again - is there a way to fix this? It's not too much of a trouble, I like to keep my bin empty.
