Gadgets won't load on startup? Also, old vista stickynotes?

Hi guys, just here with a slight hindrance to my windows 7 experience. I love Se7en, but for some reason my gadgets don't want to load on startup. Any ideas on how to fix this? I suppose I should try removing all my gadgets then loading them all again.

As an aside, does anyone know how to get the old stickynotes gadget from vista back? I know 7 brings its own stickynotes app which is cool and all, but I prefer the vista one due to it not taking up space on my taskbar and being slightly more aesthetically pleasing?

for the notes gadget you should be able to get it from anyone who has vista, if no either no one uploads it or you cant find it ill install vista on a VM and ill extract from there,

as for the other question about not loading at startup have you checked your msconfig and checked that sidebar is checked
all you have to do to check is to do that is press start and type the search program and files box msconfig and enter..
check on the startup tab and see if the sidebar is checked...
it should be called the entry : "Microsoft Operating System"
there should be two as one will be media center and the other is the sidebar....
if not then check back with us

there's good news and bad news you either have to get the stickynotes gadget from an already installed vista system...
you cant use the gadget folders on the w7 unless if i believe it gets repackaged again but thats against EULA (.....)
as for the alternative there should be one online in the gallery...

    Hello Napilopez,

You will need to have UAC turned on for Gadgets to work in Windows 7.

How do you turn on UAC? What is UAC? I had VIsta and when I loaded WIN7 my sticky note gadget was no longer on the desk top. Is it possible to get it back to desk top???

For anyone looking for a sticky notes solution I can recommend Stickies from Zhorn Software - a small and powerful freeware app which IMO is a better solution that either Vista or Windows 7 Gadgets - and it runs in the tray with UAC off

Hello Mokpo, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sticky Notes is not a gadget. Instead, you would just leave it running on your desktop to have it behave like a gadget though.

    Hope this helps,
