I have a custom dock and wish to remove the taskbar completely, how do I do it?

- Hide taskbar is not acceptable, I still see a thin fine line peeking up
- Taskbar eliminator does not work properly - I still see a thin fine line when using full screen programs (ie google chrome CS4)
Is there a windows 7 registry edit to remove it? I am sick of this issue and have yet to find a resolution (trust me I didn't my research).
If you have a custom explorer program you could just kill explorer.exe... Then again, maybe not :)
One way to do it is the method Kiosks use for locking people out of normal Windows functions. You'll need a shell program that either modifies or replaces explorer.exe so that the taskbar doesn't function. Hopefully you can find one that still lets you use the explorer windows. Otherwise you'll need a replacement for that as well.

The applets from emergedesktop do not seem to be functioning properly with my current OS. I do not think it has been tested with Win 7 32/64.
Killing explorer.exe does indeed do the job however it also disables a lot of features.
Is anyone familiar with a registry edit to "hide" the toolbar completely yet still make explorer.exe operable?
And WHS - that program also leaves a thin line of toolbar viewable when using full screen programs.
As I mentioned, you'll probably need to find a shell program that disables the taskbar.

According to the author, it is not supposed to leave a thin line. But I have never used it myself. Read this thread where I had a discussion regarding this point with the author. There you can also contact the author directly.And WHS - that program also leaves a thin line of toolbar viewable when using full screen programs.
I can remove your taskbar 100% but you will still be able to open the Start Menu with the Windows key on your keyboard if that's any good to you. :)
I found the C# source code here but it came as code for a small application with two buttons (one to hide the Taskbar and Start Button and one to show them again). I've modified the code to automatically do what you want upon running it and then it exits, it uses the Windows API so there isn't any dirty hacks involved either.
To make life easier I made it into two exe's, one does the hiding and the other one shows it again.
Simply extract the exe's to your Windows folder and create a shortcut to the 'HideTaskbar.exe' in the Start Menus 'Startup' folder to make it happen upon each bootup.
