I would really like to do this also. The Vista photos screen saver will play full length videos. Windows Live will only play the first 10 seconds. I use the Vista saver all the time on my family room HTPC. The kids love seeing the pictures and videos of themselves. I would like to upgrade that PC to Win7, but I can't because I will loose the good screen saver.

I have tried copying over all the files from "C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Gallery" and the "PhotoScreensaver.scr", and the registry settings, but it does not work. I just get a black screen.

In windows7, the screensaver setup for videos works a little differently than in Vista. Here is the procedure from my own webpage:

In Windows 7 you have to go via Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you do not have it yet on your system, download it from Windows Live Essentials http://download.live.com/?wa=wsignin1.0

    Then do the following steps:

    · Open Live Essentials Photo Gallery
    · Click on File
    · Click on > Screen Saver Settings (This will open the Screen Saver Settings)
    · Browse to your folder with the video and open it (OK)
    · In the Use this theme list box, select Album
    · Then do Save
    · Now run Preview and see whether it works

Remind you that the video format must be .wmv. If you have another format, convert it with Format factory http://www.formatoz.com/
Thanks for the tips. I don't have any trouble configuring the screen saver to point to the correct folder with my videos and pictures. That part works fine. My videos are .avi files with H264 video and ac3 audio. The saver plays them, but it only plays the first 10 seconds. The vista photos saver from "Windows Photo Gallery" will play the full duration of the video.

I don't want to convert all my videos to wmv because this is my master collection of photos and videos and I don't want to have to keep a second copy of every video. That would take forever and eat up a huge amount of disk space. I have hundreds of videos.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Understand what you say. But unfortuately it will only work with .wmv. Do you really have to convert all videos or just the few you might be using as screensavers.

The whole point is to use my entire collection. The kids love seeing all the videos of themselves.
