    Can't install gadget

I recently created a simple gadget for my Win7 Starter netbook. Copy the files to the Sidebar folder and my new gadget was available in the list of gadgets from the desktop. Installed it and it works fine. Tried to copy the same gadget to my Win7 Pro 64-bit desktop and can't get it to show up in the list of available gadgets. I tried copying the gadget to the following locations with no luck:
    C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
    C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Hello
Go to your start menu search and type: shell:gadgets
Place the folder for you gadget in there, and check if the gadget now shows up in your gadget library

The just takes me to C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets, which I already tried.

Can you upload the gadget so i can have a look at it? It might be a small mistake in the XML Coding or similar

Okay, your problem is that you haven't put the files in a folder (those two files you uploaded needs to be in a folder called "name.gadget" to show and work in the gadget library)
I have fixed it now for you, just unpack this ZIP to your gadget folder

I actually did have them in a folder, but the folder was called just "Temperature". Changed to "Temperature.Gadget" and it works fine. Thanks for the help.

I can get the gadget to work in the "user" folder but not the "global" (C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets), any ideas? When I first created it, it did work in the "global" until I deleted it and put it back. I have tried creating the .zip file thing and it attempted to install it in the "user" folder, but that didn't work either. thanks...

    I finally found the answer:
    1. Start "Taskbar Manager"
    2. Select "Sidebar.exe" and press "End Process"
    3. goto C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\
    4. Rename "Settings.ini"
    5. Make any changes to gadgets that are needed.
    6a. Restart "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Sidebar.exe"
    or
    6b. Restart "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\Sidebar.exe"

All gadgets should now be visible.
