Reinstated Sidebar (from Vista) doesn't work propperly

I have a problem with sidebar that I have reinstated as described here:
Vista Windows Sidebar - Reinstate on Windows 7. I have described the problem in this threat, but I think it is more appropriate to ask for help here rather than in the tutorials section.

After playing with this "hack" I have realized that the "flyouts" are blocked.
    Examples are
    - wp-corp mail checker
    Wp-Corporation
    - WeatherMan:
    WeatherMAN
    - Agenda / Calendar
    Windows Live Gallery

It works in Vista and with the "original" Sidebar in W7. I see the same behavior in Server 2008. What causes this behavior and how can I possibly fix it?

I've got the same problem. And it makes many gadgets unusable since the content resides in the flyout menu

eg. Spell Checkers, RSS Readers, Multi-Search

Why would you want to go back to the restricted vista version? You have much more fredom to place gadgets where you want on 7.

I actually like the idea of viewing important stuff on top for a quick glance. Like To do list, Clock & Calendar, RSS Feeder or even a small internet tv playing when I surf the internet during break. :)

And the old vista sidebar reserves space on the right of my widescreen ,which has plenty of space, unlike the new windows7 gadget which overlap with windows I work :)

A-frikkin-Men. I HATE it that they did away with the sidebar. They could've at least given us some sort of option to reserve so space on the monitor. I have a dual monitor setup. With the sidebar i could put stuff i wanted to look at constantly like cpu/mem load, clock, date blah blah, AND still have all the windows on my second monitor maximized. now i can't do it. boooo.
    brind sidebar back!

couldn't you do the same thing with vista? you weren't restricted to the sidebar either.

I use the Wunderground Weather gadget and tried the original Vista, SP1 and SP2 sidebars with W7 but no luck here either. It's too bad because the Vista sidebar is much better for high resolution widescreens. It's annoying (and stupid) to have windows underlap the sidebar unnecessarily.

I would like to see a more sophisticated version of the sidebar in fact. Similar to the old one, but with some more options, for example an option to view two or more rows of gadgets in the sidebar. Todays LCDs with 1920x1080 res or higher make that very useful.
