    Have you tried YupYup's suggetion in post #3, i've no experience in hacking an OS as i've so far had no need to.

    yeah i have tried it, and unfortunately it didnt work.
    i know my computer can run aero because i have had it running perfectly before! (although i have no idea how i got it to work on vista).

    The only way you'd have seen Aero on that card is during the Vista beta (Longhorn) days. That was when Aero was still software driven and had no hardware acceleration requirement. As soon as it was finalised it needed pixel shaders which your card doesn't have.

    You can get a cheap aero capable card off Ebay for next to nothing nowadays. That's because lots of DX9 cards were aero capable, but were made redundant by dx10 capable cards. I got my x1950pro for £5.
