    Right Click Context Menus

In the right click context menu for a picture file ….
How can I change the “Edit” to open in another program ... such as Photoshop ??

You need to select 'Open With' and if the program is not there then select 'Choose default program'.

    Hope this helps :)

I don't want to change the default program .. which is usually Irfanview ..
But I may want to send it to Photoshop for editing.

It would be nice if I can skip the "Open With" .. "Multiple Choice test" route ... like I can in XP...
And just change the "Edit" default

You might want to look at your registry

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Application\mspaint.exe\shell\edit\command

This could be what your after but i've not tested it yet as i don't have any other paint software available. If you change the data section to link to your current imaging program it should work.

Note: always back-up your data (write down the original information so you can change it back if it don't work).

    Hope this helps :)

The registry key above is incorrect. I have posted the actual key here - Change your default image editing software

Great News ... And works like a charm.
It's a shame I have to ask for these workarounds to get it to work as efficiently as XP

Instead of shutting off ALL Thumbnail Viewing ... Shut it off for the desktop display only.
Thumbnails have their place .. But not on the desktop .. IMHO

It never made any sense to me to show the thumbnail for the contents of a pdf file ..
    and call it an Icon.

Irfanview has its own file type Icons ...
But I like to use my customized Irfanview Icons so I can see what file types I have on my desktop.
