ATI Tv Tuner Problems for everyone!!!!

AHAAAAA!!!!!

This is to all the nay-sayers that Windows 7 Media Centre won't work with ATI TV Tuner 650 usb (et al I suppose). I stressed over this for several days (as I did after installing W7 last month: I couldn't remember what I did) without success. I then remembered something way back in W98se that was a MUST. Sorry for the shouting to come: UNPLUG THE ATI TV TUNER FROM THE POWER BAR OR WALL AND LET IT SET FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES: Voila............reinstall the ccc from ati, re-plug in the Tv Tuner and wait for the drivers to load and then 'set-it-up' according to the wizard.

Preface: before you attempt the above, make sure that 'all' ati components are uninstalled in the control panel.......AND......go to device manager and uninstall the driver in the devices 'Sound, video, and game controllers' that refers to 'ati streaming driver'.

In 5 minutes you will be enjoying tv on the computer once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Without prejudice: I would also like to say for the benefit of those who are having problems and ask a question......why can't responders to questions just answer the question without all of the b.s. about trying this, trying that, do you have this, do you have that, jump through this hoop, jump through that one......I get sick and tired of so called 'experts' spouting on about stuff they don't even have a clue about.)

I know there are other threads about this, but I'm just hoping someone has had a breakthrough.

Don't know why you needed to do a double post but...

At any rate, to get my PCI TV Tuner 650 Pro to work under W7 all I did was install the latest Vista drivers and it worked. No need to remove this or that. Just install the Vista drivers and worky worky.

As of today ATI/AMD still has not released Windows 7 drivers for these cards yet , but the Vista drivers work

Peace.

What's weird in my case is that it's not even seen in my device manager. Even devices without drivers installed will have the yellow triangle with the Exclamation point installed.

You should provide more details on your hardware setup, which would be helpful to us.

Anyway, the correct driver is this version on the ATI site.

I have no problem whatsoever using both 650 PCI and 650 PCIe on my Win7 x64 system through this TV tuner driver (and running current Catalyst 12.4 as well for my HD5770).

Oddly, it worked when I installed many times Windows 7 upgrade on a Win XP (passed mnay hard drives - don't ask).

This time I did a Windows 7 fresh install and I tried the drivers above, Vista drivers, it refuses to work.

EDIT: For the record, my ATI 650 is back to life now, on W7.
