Windows 7: SCSI driver for Win7 pro 64 bits

06 Apr 2014   #21

Win 7 Ultimate x64

I'm not sure about that driver, but I do know that with a bit of work, you can make all your old internal Adaptec scsi cards function in Win 7/8 with this brilliant solution:

Vuescan, Adaptec SCSI Controller, Driver: 64 bit Windows 7 / Windows 8

I am now running my long defunct Canon Canoscan FS2710 on its original SCSI card; and using Hamrick's modern scanner driver, the original being obsolete, without a hitch.

Hi Ethe, I wanted to thank you for your post and your link. My Epson Expression was collecting dust, but thanks to your link, it is attached to my Win7 64 bit computer and scanning through my Adaptec 2902e SCSI card with Vuescan software. Amazing!!

Hopefully it will also be possible to press it into service under Win10 (something I hope to be testing soon).

Thanks again .. :)

Which Adaptec card do you have installed?? I see a lot of Adaptec AVA-2903B 50-Pin SCSI with DB-25 Host Bus Adapter HBA PCI Card being sold on ebay - wandering if the Win64 driver will work with it -

I also have an EMU ESI-32 Sampler and im trying to figure out which card to get

SCSI 64 bit

You may like to look for an Adaptec AHA 29160N Ultra SCSI. The standard card has an external 68pin wide SCSI port, but the 'N' version has a 50 pin external port. There is an Adaptec Win 7 64bit driver for it see Adaptec - Adaptec SCSI Card 29160N

Says, "Windows could not find driver software for your device."

All of these downloads--every last download from Adaptec--contains no drivers. A driver would be a DLL or an EXE. These contain only .cat, .inf, .sys, or .pnf files. No drivers.
I realise that this post is from 2013, but as I've just visited this page to download these drivers I thought it would be beneficial for this to be answered for future visitors.

CAT, INF and SYS files are, in fact, driver files which need to be present when installing drivers. These are used to import a signed driver in to the Windows Driverstore using the 'pnputil' application from the command line.

To install a driver this way, launch an elevated command prompt from the folder where you extracted the files to and type this command (where djsvs.inf is the name of the INF file):

pnputil.exe -a djsvs.inf

You can then install your device by
- navigating to Device Manager
- locating the device and selecting 'Update Driver Software...'
- selecting 'Browse my computer for driver software'
- selecting 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. Your driver will be listed in here (sorted by device category and manufacturer).
