SCSI driver for Win7 pro 64 bits
Hi,
my old Adaptec 2904 SCSI card is not recognized by Win7 64bits. Adaptec has drivers for Win7 32bits only, and says "there will be no support for 64 bits drivers for this card" (AIC-7850 based). Do you know "alternative" drivers (or other solution) that would allow to use the Adaptec 2904 in Win7 pro 64 bits? I need SCSI for my Nikon diapo scanner and backup magneto-optical drives. |

If there are no 64bit drivers, you're out of luck.. you can try using the 32 bit driver, some 32 bit drivers might work, but if adaptec refuses to make a 64 bit driver and the 32 bit driver doesn't work, there aren't any alternatives except to buy a 64 bit capable SCSI card. The Adaptec 29160 SCSI card is compatible with 64bit windows 7 and costs about $50..

Hi,
Many thanks for your answer => I need somme more advise: 1) I forgot to mention that for approximatively 6 monthes I still have a dual boot XP-32b+W7-64b: I suppose that there are no problem to use the generic Win XP drivers when booting XP-32b? 2) perhaps more critical: my OLD peripherals are not LVD type and use a 50 pin connector => are you sure that they can be connected to this 26160 card (LVD type and 68 pin connector)? By the way, you mention a $60 price => I suppose that this is for an used product? Because here in France the 29160 is now difficult to find, and the prices are above 200EUR! (approx $250...) |

The price for the 29160 card was for a used one, but that's in the US. Also, it does have an internal 50 pin connector, and you can get a 50 pin to 68 pin adapter, but it may be cheaper and less frustrating in the long run to get a new scanner and backup drives

Hi,
you're right in most cases ;-), but not really in my situation: - the old Agfa Arcus professionnal scanners have some functions and performances that doesn't exist today - the magneto-optical drives are for long term backups: last week I've made a little testing, and none of my disks had any problem; some of them were written in... 1995! I'm not sure that hard drives or CD, DVD or BD, would keep datas for such a long time... I only hope that these peripherals will be definitively out of order only when I don't need them anymore. |

ETHE,
I'm truly grateful for your reply and posting of the folder with the 3 necessary files in it that are needed for things to work. It now looks like I will be able to continue to use an ancient scanner, and not have to buy a new one. Thanks for your post. |

I found a fix, a few month ago, using a vista 64bits driver, which effectively solved the problem to install an old agfa 1236s. But I lost the driver after a crash disk.
The link you suggest point to a 2006 driver, I guess it is the same vista driver. But anyway, it works fine. Thank you very much dudes ![]() |
