Installing Drivers in Compatibility Mode  

I understand and know how to right click change the compatibiltiy mode of a driver if it is an .exe. No problems there.

My problem is that all I have is the XP compatible drivers, that are normally found and installed automatically from the disc. There is no .exe on the driver disc that installs the driver. So Windows 7 will not see the driver and install it automatically.

The device I am trying to install is a PCI modem, Intel based chipset. I have the driver files, simply don't know how to make Windows 7 see them as XP since there is no .exe to install them.

Please any help is appreciated.

It is simply the Intel v.90/v.92 Modem. I have the original box, it says Intel all over it. It shows up as PCI simple communications controller in Device Manager. As I said I have the .inf and the .dll, and all the files needed if Windows could search the disc and automatically install them. It worked perfectly in XP. I just don't know how to make Windows 7 Ultimate 64 see it in XP compatibility mode without a .exe to change. If I have to I'll just take it out, but I'd rather keep it. Thanks for the help.

Sorry it is the Intel 536EP v.92 modem, I took this from the .inf file on the driver.

Yeah, thanks, after I got into the .inf and got the model I also downloaded that file, it doesn't work. I'm with you though those sites were really trying hard to to fool you into taking their crap. I guess it's a loss.
