    wireless wlan card driver

    Dell inspiron 1545

Clean install from vista x64 to windows 7 x64

Upgrade option would not work as I could not remove the wireless wlan card driver

Windows 7 installed OK except I have lost the wireless. Wired internet is OK.

I downloaded the recommended driver for the card

Dell Inspiron 1545 Wireless WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard

when I try and install it says there is no matching device.

The wireless device does not show up in the device manager.

    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hiya pal, and welcome to the forums.

It seems there is more than one wifi card that came out with your lappy ... have you tried the other drivers available for your laptop from the dell site

Dell Wireless 1515 (11agn) WLAN half mini-Card (Atheros)
Dell Wireless WLAN 1510 Half MiniCard (4322)

Dell Wireless WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard (4312bg)
    Intel Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I figured it out finally. It wasn't the driver that was wrong it was that the device wasn't being
picked up when I booted up. I looked around in the setup utility and found where to enable it.

The next time I booted up it found it and automatically installed the driver!
