Windows 7: Updating drivers with programs

Not many, I would think/hope. If you know enough to be updating drivers on your own, you should also know how to get them from the proper, trusted sites. If you don't, or want an all-in-one application....you already have it. It's known as Windows Update. Add me to the list of people saying to avoid these apps and "do it right".

Besides...a "Jedi of Computer" would know why these apps are dangerous, and would never recommend them.

Avoid this program, we will. Install from the mfg, we must.

Well, I never had a problem with the program, some of you and others may have had a bad experience, a fact that did not occur to me, I'm still supporting the idea of the program. They may say I'm stubborn, but something that was good one day to me, and I've always been a believer and that it would work fine, I still recommend the program.

Do not get me as an arrogant, I'm just expressing my thoughts.

That's one of the fatal flaws you see on a forum board. Just because one person doesn't have a negative experience, doesn't mean it should be recommended to the masses. What if I got drunk once and drove home safely? Does that mean I should recommend that everyone drink and drive?

The key to participating on a forum is to give good advice to those asking, and when your own personal experience bucks logic and good computing practices, it shouldn't be suggested or recommended. Considering all the negatives with that software, and how easy it is to just run Windows Update to find a missing or updated driver (if the person doesn't want to search for it properly), there's no reason to ever use this software. That's what separates a blog entry from a forum post.

For the record, I'm not trying to be arrogant, either. I just want to make sure people get the best possible information that they come here seeking.
