    Lexmark C500N

Please help: I bought a Lexmark C500N color laser printer two years ago and have recently purchased a new computer running under Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS.

I looked on the Lexmark website and there doesn't appear to be a Windows 7 64 bit printer driver. What can I do?

After only two years (and I have bought 2 spare laser cartridges) I don't want to have to change my computer.

    Please help.

    Connect your printer to your computer and power it on, then go to;

    "Control Panel"

    "System and Security"

    "Windows Update"

    Click "Check for Updates"

After that has been completed, check which updates are available in both tabs. See if your printer, or some other printer driver is available for download. If so, tick that update and download it, restart.

If that doesn't work, here's a link for the driver, it's 64-bit compatible.

    Still no success

Thanks for your kind replies. I tried downloading Vista 64-bit drivers for the printer but my computer doesn't appear to recognise them.

I've contacted Lexmark and got this reply: "Unfortunately, based on the Windows 7 information guide from our website, this printer is not compatible with the said operating system." Not particualrly helpful!

So I remain stuck. I was wondering if anyone else who has a Lexmark C500N and Windows 7 HP 64bit has managed to solve the problem and get their printer working? My C500N is not very old so it would be a real pity (and expensive) to have to change it so soon.

If that's so, then getting a new printer may have to be an option, some aren't expensive and you can get some for a reasonable price.

    SUCCESS: W7 X64 driver: Lexmark C500N

Just to thank Skulblaka for the help. I tried once more and this time opened up the downloaded folder "LEXMARK" and used the subfolder "VISTA" when prompted for a driver. Using the Vista 64 bit driver worked fine. I guess it sounds obvious - but I'm a novice and didn't realise the driver to specify would be in a sub folder.

Hope it helps others in a similar situation.

    Thanks again.

Hello, I've also a Lexmark C500N and the Driver don't work on my Win7 Home Premium. The installation sayed that "This is not the correct Methode to install the Driver on Win7" then a Error occured. What shall i do the Link from Download Lexmark C500n Printer Driver 01-01 for Win Server 2003 32bit, Win XP 32bit, Win 2000, Win Vista x64 don't have the right driver to download. My Question ist there a other way to get a driver for my 2years old Lexmark C500n Laserprinter.

For your information my Lexmark C500n is in the Network under 192.168.1.33 connectable i can see the Lexmark C500 PS Printer Server. This will found in the TCP/IP Network under the written IP. But not possible to install the driver. Only A C510 is there in the list no C500n and others i test all this Printerdriver but no chance to fix this Problem. But why? I read that the C500N don't have a Postscript Firmware so there is no Driver exist - also Lexmark sayed that there is no working driver. In my mind i think i never buy anymore a Lexmark Laserprinter. They can not delivery a Laserprinter where the Toner is Super expensive and after 3Years on the Market no driver exist anymore, this is not correct form this Company!

    Best Regards weakbit
