HP DV 2000 Touch Pad problem

    Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7, 32 bit and am facing a weired touch pad problem. Initially the touch pad was working fine, moving the mouse cursor here and there, both right and left clicks were working fine. Only the scrolling option wasn't working and I couldn't scroll down using the touch pad.

After looking at some of the post I found out about both Synaptics and the ALPS Touch pad driver (links below). Tried both of them but none worked. After installing the Synaptics driver, nothing changed - scroll didn't work. And after installed ALPS the touch pad wasn't working at all - even simply cursor movement which was working earlier didn't work and the mouse cursor was jammed.

ALPS: ALPS Touchpad Pointing Device Driver HP Pavilion dv2804ca Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Any one has an idea what's wrong. Pls help. Thanks in advance.

    Regards, Adil

Just going to add this...You Laptop uses the Synaptics driver...according to the HP page on your Laptop. Look under "Driver - Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices". Windows 7 is not listed.
    - Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv2000 CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
    - Direct link to driver - Synaptics Touchpad Driver HP Pavilion dv2000 CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

I also found this HP "Windows 7 Upgrade Guide for dv2000 models". It does list the Touchpad about 1/2 way down - Windows 7 Upgrade Guide for dv2000 models - HP Support Forum

    HTH... :)
