- Install the latest IntelliPoint software

- When the setup is complete, choose "Wireless Laser Mouse 8000" in the Intellipoint configuration window (drop down below the image of the mouse)

The buttons of the WLM 8000 are the same as the WLM 6000.
You might want to reduce the mouse wheel sensitivity.
After that the mouse wheel of the WLM 6000 (V1) worked fine on my Windows 7 x64.
Well bugger me, this actually works. I am a Cubase 5 user and in this app the mouse does all sorts of weird and crazy stuff. I have a Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 and I selected the 8000 model as described by tMann and now everything works perfectly and as expected..

Thanks :)

Windows 7

My non-wireless Microsoft Comfort 3000 mouse's scrolling wheel hasn't worked in a few programs since going to Win7.64, it wasn't critical so I ignored it for ages but this thread got me trying things out. My findings...........

Intellipoint any version was the cause - basic drivers work OK but I use the left side switch a lot and this function is lost without Intellipoint installed. Scrolling speeds are less adjustable also and didn't suit my commonly used programs.

PS/2 or USB made no difference (some drivers don't do both, 7.1 does, 8.0 only USB to my knowledge).

Installing 7.1 again and selecting Laser Mouse 6000 WORKS! This mouse has a right side switch, my 3000 doesn't so I just disabled that option, otherwise it seems perfect. Edit, I had to change that so that the non-present right side switch was programmed to be the same as the left side switch for the left side switch virtual keypress to work reliably, it seemed to disable after a reboot if the right switch was disabled. Anyway, it works fine now for my purposes.
