Yeah i loaded it all in the right order, followed a guide on laptop forums website. All was fine and it was working. Guess i will leave it to sort itself out or just plug an old webcam in if i need to. Thanks for your help anyway.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I believe it stemmed from a recent Windows Update. When I turn on my webcame the green light is on but all I see is a black screen. I talked to Sony Tech Support online for 15 minutes and they told me it was due to corrupt files. My 15 minutes were up and I didn't want to pay $20 for a problem that hopefully can be resolved. I have Windows 7 home premium 64 bit model vgnnw240f.

Hi GTsang, welcome to the forums
have you tried a system restore prior to when the problem began ? System Restore also run the sfc /scannow command to see if you have any corrupted system files SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker hope this helps you
