    Updating monitor inf

Win7 64b trying to update one of my monitors inf file. It is listed in device manager as generic pnp. When I try to update the driver, Win7 says ..make sure it is a 64 bit driver"?? Did not think it makes a difference. Web site does not specify. Monitor is Hanns HC194D

Another day....the same result. Win7 will not accept the Hanns driver. Am I stuck with generic PNP?

Just a thought have you tried going to device manager>update driver software>browse my computer>have disk> browse to where you downloaded the file and click or double cliking the.inf file to see if it will install that way?

Tx for reply. Yes that is how I initially tried to update the inf file. When the inf file is selected, Win7 tells me that make sure it is a 64 bit file, and then assuming it is not, Win 7 tells me that the system has chosen the best driver "Generic PnP" monitor. When I view "devices and printers" the correct model number of the monitor is shown. My XP system takes this inf without a complaint and it reflects correctly in device manager.
