    DVD Burning issue

I have an Acer Aspire 5551. Out of nowheres my dvd burner stopped working. I can burn cds still but not dvds. I have switched the whole cd rom piece with one from another lap top and it still would only burn cds not dvds. I have also uninstalled my dvd driver, which is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7585H ATA Device, and re installed it yet I still cannot burn DVD's, please help!

Do you know for sure the other drive burns DVD's? Have you tried a different brand of DVD?

What program are you using to burn DVD? Try the free and popular Imgburn.

I'm 100% sure the other driver from the other laptop works. The screen is broke on that laptop thats why i got a new one, but i can still connect to tv and burn, the laptop is just slow so i would really like to get my newer one working. I havent tried a different brand of DVD because I had bought a whole stack of them at store and was already half way through them when my computer decided to stop burning DVDs. The program I use to burn is called ConvertXtoDVD. It is the only program I am able to find that burns more than one movie onto a DVD. I know it's not the program itself because I borrowed my sisters computer to do some burning and i just transferred the program from my laptop to hers and it burned a DVD just fine. I have other resources for burning DVDs like my sisters laptop or my slow old one but I would just really like to get mine fixed.

Download the Imgburn and try to burn a DVD. It doesn't matter about what it burns, just try to burn some data to the drive and see what happens.
