For others that may be interested: there is an opensource driver for bt878 called btwincap that comes in both x86 and x64 flavors and works in Vista and 7. Also DScaler knows how to operate the device physically but it tends to be unstable. However, WHM btwincap with DScaler make a good match.

- Go to WDM Video Capture Driver (32 bit) or google around for x64 version (PM me if you can't find it)
- Install WDM driver
- Get any WDM-enabled tuner app (like DScaler)
- You're good to go

@plus2plus if this fix worked please post back so others can see this thread as resolved. Not expecting you will but would be nice, at least maybe other members will see that a thread can't be resolved/closed unless they post back, Thanks. Fabe

Avermedia m179 ATSC tuner PCIe fails AMD Phenom PC, works Asus Intel
I was looking at the m791 card. Some avermedia tuners have both ATSC and Analog shielded, like the m780 tuner PCIe card. The m791 only has a metal shield over the analog part of the tuner, the ATSC part of the tuner is uncovered. I have a working m780 in the AMD Phenom II PC Hewlet Packard MB....
