Cursor jumps around - driver issue?

Hi I recently upgraded a friends laptop from Vista to W7.

All went well but the cursor often jumps when you are typing so typed text means that letters are placed at the beginning or middle of a sentence - very annoying.

I think its a driver issue - I have the old Vista drivers - which are called TouchPad Synaptics - do you think I should re-install those?

How do I do that - just go to installed driver devices and remove and re-install or would it be enough to just install the old vista driver and hopefully it will overwrite the potentially corrupt/incompatible W7 driver?

    Thanks!

Click Start> Control panel> Mouse. Click Pointer Options. Under Motion move down one notch click Apply lower right and try.

You can then go down another step at a time. Balance with response of mouse. Too low the mouse gets sluggish. Usually three steps is max.

Mine I went down one to get rid of the jitters.

If a Logitech or similar after market mouse it may need its own driver. Logitech you need to go to their website.

If that doesn't work try to re install the Win 7 drivers.
If no go still then try the Vista drivers in Compatability mode if necessary.
