    Need help regarding downloading drivers

    Hey everyone,

I have a desktop computer for some years now.
I am planning to format it the following days, and I am having a problem.
In order to prepare for the format, I have gone in search of all the appropriate drivers for my PC. My question is: should I download them from my motherboard's manufacturer site (which in this case is ASRock - Intel Chipset), or should I download drivers for each part from its site?
I would download them from the manufacturer's site, but the drivers there havent been updated since 2009 or something. What do you think I should do?
I can post additional info about my PC specs if required.

Hi Watakrak, It is always best to download motherboard drivers from the manfs website , as with additional cards etc get them from their respective hardware manfs website, If you are planning on only fromatting the HDD and keeping the same OS the you can use a a program like Driver Magician to back up your original drivers to a USB stick or burn them to a CD Device driver backup, restoration, update and removal tool for Windows, drivers backup, backup drivers :)

Well, for example, speccy says that my audio is "Realtek High Definition Audio".
Now, on ASRock's site, they have the R2.31 version of the drivers, while on the Realtek site they have a R2.70 version.
    Which should I download?

I personally only upgrade drivers if the new version offers more capabilities or fixes a bug that is causing issues , Compare the 2 drivers version info and see if the upgrade is benificial to you personnally , If the version you are using does what you want it to then stick with what you know

Though Pebbly has a point, it's always suggested to update to the latest drivers. And since you’re doing a re-format, than yes you want the latest drivers available.

That said, I would get them from the motherboard manufacturer. However, if you see later drivers from say Realtec, then get them there.

    Hope that helps.
