Flash drives & external drives won't install

Hey guys. I've been a fan of your forum for a while, and didn't create an account til now. I'm at my wits end.. and I'm desperate for help. My posts on other forums have been ignored, so I'll try here.

It all started when I bought the Dingoo A320 game system. In order for it to work with Windows 7, I had to replace the USBSTOR.sys file with another. Everything seemed fine.. except the file transfer to my Dingoo was exceptionally slow. Eventually, I followed instructions months ago, and somehow got my Dingoo to not use it's preinstalled China Chip Drivers, but Windows's mass storage driver.

Everything seemed fine for months.. until I bought a portable hard drive (Seagate Freeagent Go Flex). After spending hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't install, I returned it.. about a week later, I picked out a Patriot 64GB Flash Drive as a replacement to the Freeagent Go. Surprise surprise.. drivers won't install. Old flash drives still work (they were installed before the Dingoo incident).

    I've tried:

-Uninstalling and reinstalling device plenty of times
-Pointed Windows 7 towards "/system32/drivers" and didn't help
-Replaced USBSTOR.sys with Windows XP version
-Replaced USBSTOR.sys with Windows Vista version
    -Checked for corrupted system files
    -Tried Driver Genius

I'm at my wits end.. I have so many important files on this OS.. and I don't want to restore the OS. I've backed up some of my files thanks to Ubuntu (where the flash drive works without a hitch).

I've asked on other forums, for someone to upload their USBSTOR.sys, and no one replied. I'm also thinking that maybe the registry could be screwed up.. maybe for some reason it's told NOT to install the flash drive? Not really sure.

I'd appreciate any help guys. You have a great forum here.

Never mind. After getting no help on multiple forums, I've had enough of Windows 7.

    Installing Windows XP Pro SP3.

Try a repair install. You won't loose your files and it will repair the registry.
